Black leaves with a lot of golden top shoots give a musty, slightly smoky taste.
Golden Yunnan, also called Dian Hong Cha, is a lighter, red-colored, full-bodied tea from the famous Yunnan province.
The Chinese name “Dian Hong Cha” is an abbreviation for tea from the province. "Hong" meaning red and "cha" meaning tea. What we in the West conventionally term "black tea" is called "red tea" in China and Japan because of its brew that produces an almost mahogany-red.
Golden Yunnan is characterized by slightly larger mature leaves, tightly twisted, mixed with golden buds, also called "Golden tips". These buds contribute to the sweetness of the tea, with hints of cocoa and caramel.
The overall taste is a soft, round bouquet with a pleasant sweetness and a slight smokiness. Suitable for both strong food and lighter flavours. Excellent with aged cheese and fine milk chocolate. Tastes like a lighter version of Pu Erh tea.
